Software/Tools for Students with Physical Difficulties
MathTalkThis is a speech-recognition mathematics program. Students who are unable to hold a writing instrument can use their voice to create problems and solve them on the computer. This program would allow students with physical difficulties to participate successfully in any math class.

EfofexThe FX Math Pack contains all of the math programs: Draw, Equation, Graph, and Stat. All drawings, equations, and graphs can be created using a keyboard instead of pencil and paper. This company offers a free ten-year license to their products for students with physical disabilities through their EmPower Program. The license must be requested on school letterhead and is a gift to the student. This will make algebra much easier to see and understand for many students.

Limitless StylusStudents with disabilities that affect the range of motion in their hands find it difficult to participate in classroom activities that involve technology. Many people who have limited motor skills in their hands, do have the ability to use their arms. This stylus attaches to the arm with two velcro straps and allows for better use of touch screen devices. Texas Instruments has developed an app of their graphing calculator. This tool will allow a student to successfully access this necessary mathematical instrument. It will also give the student the opportunity to participate when the class is working with an app on an iPad or a computer.

Apps for Students with Physical Difficulties
|
TI-NspireTexas Instruments has created an app version of the Nspire graphing calculator. For students with limited fine motor skills, this app is much easier to use than a regular graphing calculator. This app, coupled with the limitless stylus, should allow the majority of students access to the most commonly used piece of technology in any high school mathematics classroom.

Math PaperThis app allows students to write and solve both basic math equations and more difficult algebraic equations digitally. One of the challenges of using technology in the math classroom involves the difficulty of creating equations on the computer. This app works well for students who cannot hold a pencil or who have other motor difficulties and could be paired with the limitless stylus described above.
